What can I do?

Mumbai was rocked by one of the worst ever terrorist attack on 26th November 2008.

The question many people are asking is WHAT CAN WE DO? Here's what can be done by us

1. We always say the police is inactive;there is not enough checking at many places that can be attacked. However, we are the only ones who crib when we have to stand in long queues and get our luggage checked at the airport or at railway stations. Let us change this attitude and support the police in doing their job. Lets be ready to sacrifice a little freedom to ensure better security measures.

2. Please do not get carried away by the negative sentiments for Muslims or any other religion. We must get more united and not allow any religional or regional tensions to surmount. Lets not be a part of rallies of politicians who are out there to cause communal tension and disharmony by advocating "Me Mumbaikar" theory and "North Indians ko hatao". The need of the hour is "Aise politicians ko hatao" because there's a bigger problem that we are facing as a nation and thats Terrorism.

3. We blame the politicians for not being able to do their job properly. However, it is we who elect them. This is a time not to get de-politicised; we ought to be more politicised and all of us should make it a point to vote and elect those people in the system who can make a difference. If we don't vote then we loose our right to ask questions to our politicians that why aren't they working properly. Remember these politicians are not our leaders but are public servants.

4. Let us make sure that we don't let this episode die away without any results; lets make sure we back the media in getting a permanent solution from the government to tackle terrorism. It is nice to have "THE SPIRIT" and "THE RESILIENCE" that Mumbaikars have always shown, but let us not take these as excuse that we get back to normal life and then allow another attack after 2-3 months.

5. Lets ask questions such as why can't the financial capital of India get the best possible security even after paying more than 50% of total taxes received by the government. If we do not get any solution to the problem of terrorism then lets stop paying our taxes from next year. If 10-15 people don't pay their taxes then they are likely to get arrested but if the entire city doesn't pay the taxes then the government will be bound to take action to solve our problems. Its high time we DO something rather than pondering on what we can do. Together we can certainly bring about a change. so lets wake up from our passiveness and bring about a positive change.

Where is Raj Thackeray and his "brave" Sena? 200 NSG Commandos from Delhi (NO Marathi manoos! ALL North & South Indians!) have been sent to Mumbai to fight the terrorists so that he can sleep peacefully...

An Olympic shooter wins Gold (Only a game) & Government gives him 3 Crores

Another Shooter dies, fighting with terrorists (Saving our country and our lives) & Government pays his family 5 lakhs.

Really great! Hats off to India!

I like your optimism but did you read the TOI where there was a photograph of a man who walked in with a gun into the CST..? Our Govt is deaf, dumb and blind. To add insult to injury they are hear-less when it comes to its citizens.

I vote but I am forced to chose better from the worst.

Oh.. you thought it was good..?? Great yaar!! Actually I was managing a lot of stuff.. I am sort of perfectionist and don't like to leave things below the mark. And I didn't have time to look after it- so deleted it!! :)
Will get back to it after exams and all!! ;)
